Worrying means thinking about the future considering only, or almost exclusively, the negative aspects. Moreover, you would think about something that has not happened yet. Continuous and excessive worries are symptoms of anxiety. That’s why it is important to change your basic negative beliefs.
Changing Your Basic Negative Beliefs
To understand why some things worry you, you need to identify your basic negative beliefs that are fuel for your concerns.
Some common beliefs are:
- inadequacy = being inferior and incapable
- abandonment = you are convinced that others will leave you, and you will remain alone
- sense of helplessness = you cannot look after yourself
- feeling special = superiority over others
- glamour = effort to be attractive and impress others
- guardian angel = you think you have to make others feel comfortable
You need to figure out how to free yourselves from your own limiting beliefs. The stronger these beliefs are, the more you shall slowly weaken them until you turn them into positive ones.
Time makes your beliefs stronger as they are linked to an experience that somehow has remained impressed on you. It can be a memory that has found fertile ground at a particular moment in your emotional life. The same emotion would have been different in a different situation.
On the positive side, just as beliefs have grown in your mind, you can replace them with some positive beliefs that would help you grow and live your life to the fullest.
Therefore, start analyzing your past situations until you identify where your beliefs come from. Becoming aware of the problem is already a first step towards a solution. Then try to weaken the references and emotions linked to the beliefs until the main cause will be removed. If they lose their foundation, your negative beliefs will no longer bother you.
Choose positive beliefs and transform your life
Everything is in your hands and in your mind, you can choose what kind of beliefs to rely on.
Start by changing your negative beliefs into positive ones, then visualize the results you could achieve by changing perspective. If you manage to change your vision, eliminating all negative beliefs, fears and limitations related to them and replacing them with positive ones, you will stop worrying too much. And you will start living your life to the fullest.

Great Post with a powerful message. Taking time to identify where our beliefs are coming from really is the first step to moving forward with a healthier outlook. But we also need to keep focused on changing our thinking so we don’t slip back into the comfortable but negative thoughts

“If you manage to change your vision, eliminating all negative beliefs, fears and limitations related to them and replacing them with positive ones, you will stop worrying too much.”
This is very true. I never realized how my negative beliefs were affecting my anxiety and my worrying, until I started doing the work to flip the script in my head.
It takes a lot of work to change our negative beliefs, but I found that infusing a series of small positive thoughts was far more helpful that trying to squelch the negative ones! The more I practiced with the positive thoughts, the better I became with them, and to my surprise I found my negative beliefs started to slip away of their own accord.
That’s very interesting Tamara, thanks for sharing!
I love your push to replace negative ones with positive ones – and the image of them taking root. Nice, Cristiana!
Thank you Wynne!
Accept the emotions – challenge the thought. Journalling helps spot those negative thought patterns. When you spot them you can think about how you might challenge them when they reoccur. Great pose Cristiana 🙏
Journaling is really helpful David, thank you for commenting!
There are so may of them, boy, I don’t know if I could remember all of them. Having admitted that, I can tell that slowly but surely they are to disappear from my everyday life. This year is the year of transformations so grabbing the bull by the horns is the way to go
Well said Milena, this is what we call determination!
