Would you like to get more things done on a daily basis? Do you feel like losing too much time with… nothing? And nevertheless, you still are afraid of a tight schedule?
Regardless the general impression, a tight schedule brings more freedom than anything does. And it allows us to get more things done. I’ve heard many people that a tight schedule is similar to being in prison. I would like to argue that because you are the one creating the schedule based on your needs and desires.
Here is my step-by-step recommendation regarding how to create a great schedule:
- Make a list with all the things you’d like to achieve (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly and so on), including your relaxing time;
- Approximate the time required for each of those things to complete and if it’s a repetitive daily “task”, try approximating the daily time required for that;
- Rank the list based on the importance;
- Set a deadline for each of the things from that list;
- Based on the importance, deadline and the time required, split that time and put something in your schedule each day for each of those tasks (even if it’s 10 minutes per day… at the end of the week, they add up).
I know this works because it helped me write my book in 6 months while I had a full job, I read 4 books per month, I kept this blog going and I also had some time to spend with my wife. There is freedom in a tight schedule. You just need to find the right tight schedule for you.
How does the idea of a tight schedule sound for you?

You accomplished a lot in a short time. My hat goes off to you!
For me, that tight of a schedule sounds claustrophobic. I’m getting anxious just reading about it.
Thank you very much! It might sound claustrophobic, but it gets things done! Of course, you probably have your way of doing the same that doesn’t involve a tight schedule 🙂
Tight schedules are fine for a short amount of time but after a while then become too constricting.
True! In my opinion, they can always be adjusted according to the transforming needs.
I actually recently started planning out my work week in half hour blocks. I thought I would hate it, but I got a TON of stuff done. Now I love it. I don’t have to decide about what I need to do, I just look at my detailed schedule and just do it. It’s totally unbelievable how crazy effective this has been for me!
Yes, exactly! You only need to do it once and then follow it. Maybe it needs adjustments along the way because some things will be completed and you need to put others in 🙂
Tight schedules are absolutely necessary to get anything done- and when you schedule in the things you enjoy you look at the thing and think- oh yeah I do a lot of cool things, don’t I?
Love this post.
Keep writing my friend.
Thank you! <3 Yes, the more you do, the more your confidence raises and you'll feel better with yourself about yourself.
Thank you! 🙂
That is brilliant advice! I know many of those tips have worked for me as well. It is amazing what can be done with a strict schedule. I used to feel overwhelmed all the time. Setting a plan for myself, and following my schedule, took a lot of pressure off my shoulders.
Yes, that’s right! A schedule takes the pressure from us and it puts it into that schedule. Would you say you got more productive after you followed your schedule?
Getting things done is personal thing, you have to find out what’s best for you. Once you have the great stuff gets done.
Lists are important, priorities are important but focus and flexibility are key. The ability to change and still deliver what you want and what you need.
Yes, exactly! It’s all about the personal desires, needs and actions.
You just answered my question from the previous post with this post!! I love you!! XDD thanks so much
My pleasure! Thank you for reading! I hope it helps you somehow 🙂
Great post! I’ve been thinking about how to effectively schedule my day, as well. I’ve decided to set alarms on my phone, to cue my transition for the next task. That way, I can truly focus on the task at hand and know that I’ve allotted time for everything on my To-Do List. Wish me luck! 🤓
Thank you for reading! Good luck and let me know how it goes! 😀

I prefer structured to get going, but loose once I do…
If you manage to keep going, then it’s the best combination for you!
