This is a veeeery tricky and important question for me. I don’t even know if I should ask it. So what is blogging? A blog is a site, but what does this verb refer to? Is it about writing? Is it about reading? Is it about both and many more? Is the purpose of it involved in the definition?
I’m pointless overthinking, I know. But I want to do it right and I don’t really know if I’m doing it. Maybe blogging has a different definition from one person to another. I try to provide daily content, I try to interact with you, I try to read other blogs and I try to help us grow together. Is this the definition of blogging? Or it’s only about the interactions? Writers write, readers read and bloggers blog. Since it has an own term, it’s probably different from the two.
In my opinion, blogging is mostly about interacting with others. It’s about creating a community. Even though it’s very important for me, it’s probably not that important to write daily. I’m taking this serious because I know that words are very powerful and I hope that maybe someday I’ll find the right ones to make a difference in someone’s life.
If I really think about it, a blogger is a person that loves to interact with others through blog posts. A blogger doesn’t need to write posts very often because a comment can be in the right place at the right time and it can change someone’s life.
You have the power! We all do! So we need to use it wisely because we can be remembered by someone for the good we did in that person’s life or we can be remembered as a hater. I believe there is enough evil and negativity in this world so each positive comment matters.
What does blogging mean to you?

For me it’s learning and growing published outloud.
Yes, that’s a great way to see this!
Thank you for the great posts and questions 😊
Thank you for reading! 🙂
I’m with you on this. I don’t think I wouldn’t have asked, and said it any different.
Thank you for reading! 😀
Connecting to people around the world and seeing other points of view.
That is a very interesting part of blogging because we can see how others thing based on their culture and their past experience.
This is a great description. I also think it’s about documenting your findings & sharing a mutual appreciation for the world around us.
Thank you for reading and for sharing your thoughts! Furthermore of the documentation, we can see that others feel the same and that makes us feel so much better!
I read other’s blogs for inspiration, and I hope to inspire others with mine. Great post! I’ve been having thoughts along the same lines lately.
Nice! Reading other people’s blogs is very inspiring and for me, it triggers very interesting ideas!
I think blogging is a personal exchange of ideas on the web. 😄
And every good thing in this world starts with an idea 🙂
I was literally planning on writing something extremely similar to this in the near future. Awesome post! 👍🏻
Awesome! Thank you for reading!
Blogging is putting up information, ideas, thoughts, pictures, news and whatever on a website for other people to read and interact with the blogger. Bloggers needs to update their blogging sites with new posts often.
So in your opinion, blogging is more about creating content?
Yes. Anything at all and updating.
It’s a great question… Blogging is my way of interacting with different people, who I only know through the words they write..
And that is a great way to know people! As Jordan B. Peterson says: “There is no difference between writing and thinking.”
I think blogging and writing in general are pretty much… the same? Blogging means you tell and provide information about something, make a statement and opinion of what you are believe in, and promoting something. I think it’s called ‘blogging’ because of the medium we use to do it on, which is called… a blog?
So what’s the difference between a blog and a news website?
I guess… The difference is that on blog, you can write freely, anything you want, personal experience, tips, reviews, and such, more casual, I take it…
While news website is mostly about current events, what is actually happening, based on facts and live feed, most of the time. I think for news website you actually have to deliver factual information, though I guess you also can write some news on your blog… And you may need to tell it as what it is, unbiased
Is there any more?
For me, it’s a bit of therapy, a place to work through the clutter in my head. It’s also taking the risk of being vulnerable on a very large platform. I speak of personal things – and am so thankful for the support I get.
Yes, there is that risk, but there are people that go through similar things and they don’t have the courage to express it. Or maybe they don’t even know where to start.
If anything I write ever helps another, then I have truly done something good in that day.
I started with the intention of sharing my images. I discovered I like writing. I discovered lots of new things to read. Then I discovered interaction and inspiration. And all along I felt myself growing, Learning more about myself and others. I find it a healthy mental exercise. I’m sure the reasons for blogging are as many as there are the number of blogs. I agree, words are very powerful. Blogging has made me more conscious of the ones I use and when. I find blogging more thoughtful and respectful than other social media. And therefore the most enjoyable.
Nicely put! So blogging makes your life better 🙂
Great post. For me it provides many things. A time to focus on writing, meeting people with common interests, learning from others, and connecting, among other things. It can be intimidating to put yourself “out there” but it also helps you grow.
Well, without putting ourselves out there, can we find areas of improvement?
For me, blogging is about connecting with others like you said, but it’s also a really good way to learn so many different things about our world. I love hearing about different cultures, seeing other towns, communities, and countries, and beautiful pics of nature. I also love to share my thoughts with others by writing. I like your overthinking, please
keep it up. Many times it brings a smile to my face😊 ☀️💚☀️
Your comment just brightened my day! Thank you very much for being part of this community!
Blogging means so many different things to so many different people so it’s up to you to find out what it means to you.
What does blogging mean for you?
I get the chance to tell people where I live.
My Original reasons to start a Blog were to make people aware that Highway Fatalities could be reduced or eliminated by the way we operate our Vehicles and how we use our Roadways. Then I realized that Blogging was about whatever your Passion is. For example Parenting, Relationships, Life, Travelling, make no mistake without Passion you’ve got nothing. For me Blogging is sharing the things that you are passionate about.
I totally agree with you! From Passion emotions come and as I mentioned in the post, that’s when the best words come!
For me, it is less about creating ways to interact with people to grow my audience and exposure than it is about writing quality posts from my heart. My writing is a rather specific set of topics though. If my words do end up reaching that one person who might possibly benefit from what I have to say, my work has not been in vain. I also write for my own personal well-being because it has helped me lift a tremendous weight off my shoulders; my writing has been the most therapeutic thing I’ve been able to do for myself personally. I write about grief, sadness, emotional well-being and the fear and panic that can sometimes follow a traumatic loss like mine. I lost my 15 year old daughter and I have much in my heart I need to write about before I branch out into much else.
While I’m serious about each and every thing I publish in my blog, building popularity is just not my greatest concern at this point in time. I do try to interact as a reader and follower though.
I’m very sorry about your loss… I’m glad you found a way to express your pain and whatever it is in your heart…
All of the viewpoints expressed, in your piece and by those commenting, have real validity For me, blogging is an attempt to make sense of the world, first for myself but also hoping that something I create fits in to someone else’s partly completed jigsaw puzzle .Certainly the blogs of others give me lightbulb moments! All the best.
I wanna help people through blogging .. you know like giving my readers a daily dose of positivity , selflove, healing etc.. 🌼🌼
This speaks volume to me dear, and I don’t think if my perspective about blogging is far from you,but I may say blogging is a platform where those who feel they have got a purposeful life, then they can impact the world through that platform.
I also agree with your argument that it should be an interaction site where ideas are exchanged and integration is created.
There is a lady called Rebecca Fine, who I will not tire talking about her significant impact to my life despite the fact that we’ve not met one on one.
We just met online and she linked me through great intellectual gurus online who gave me online courses that all translated to who I am.
I always invite great men of God I encounter online for a plugin, how best we can create a significant network through this space, but in most cases,my pleas have been going unattended to.
However,am a believer in what some intellectual guru once said,” Ideas are born drowning ” but through exchange programs and other such like encounters where we seek to build each other for the greater collective good for the entire universe.
Thanks and God’s blessings,
