Highlights of My First Year on Wise & Shine

Can you believe it has already been a year since I published my first post here on Wise & Shine? As we celebrate Thanksgiving in Canada today, I’m counting my blessings. One of the things I’m grateful for is the opportunity to start my week and yours by having my thoughts appear in your inbox on Monday mornings.

In today’s post, I thought it would be fun to look back at some of my favourite posts of the past year. And then, I’ll turn it over to you for input on what you’d like to hear more of.

A Look Back at the Past Year

Since publishing Simple Living in a Complex World on October 9, 2023, I’ve published 46 posts. I took a few weeks off when travelling—and some weeks life got busy, and the idea well was dry.

I thought it would be fun to share some of my favourite posts from the last year. Here, in no particular order, is my Top 10 list…

In A Life Well Lived – How are you Spending Your Dash? I reflected on how we can make the most of the time we have on this planet.

The holidays are on the way again. In Reduce Stress by Rethinking Your Holiday To Do List, I suggested 10 ways to bring the peace and joy back to the hectic holiday season.

I’ve never been much of a poet, but I’ve been trying my hand at poetry over the last year. My Christmas Day post was a poem I wrote about the ornaments on our Christmas tree. It’s called Memories of a Mismatched Christmas Tree.

In Say Good-Bye to FOMO and Hello to JOMO, I discussed ways to embrace the joy of missing out.

Are you a perfectionist? In Done is Better Than Perfect, I considered the perils of perfectionism and ideas on how to overcome it.

Unstructured time is rare in our world these days. In Praise of Wasted Time might just inspire you to set aside some time for daydreaming.

How Sustainable Living Makes Life Better looks at five hidden benefits of being a good steward of our planet.

In Fostering Intergenerational Cooperation, I debunked common stereotypes of the young and the old and suggested ways we can all work together.

Back to School…Not Just for Kids celebrated the benefits of lifelong learning for people of all ages.

Finally, a couple of weeks ago, I discussed replacing your bucket list with a different kind of list in What’s on Your Curious List?

Looking Ahead

I’m currently taking a course on Strategies in Audience Analysis. We’re learning about different ways to get feedback from our audience. Although I’d love to sit down over a cup of tea and interview each one of you, that’s not possible. Instead, I invite you to provide your feedback in the comments below.

Tell me what you’d like to see more of in the coming year. Sustainability? Simple living? Decluttering? General wisdom? Or is there something else you’d like me to dive into?

Thanks again to anyone who has read, liked, or commented on any of my posts. I sincerely appreciate each of you!

And Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian readers.

  2. I think you should go on with publishing a variety of posts on different topics, as you have been doing so far. I have always been entertained well. Congratulations for the first year with W&S!
