If you think about the time you spend daily, how much of it is for short-term goals and how much of it is for long-term goals and why?
No time on long term goals, mainly due to depression
Since when do you have this depression?
short term, remember, long term, do not lose my memory. seriously not a joke but, I trust in God’s Will.Thank you for the questions.
Thank you very much for answering them! π
Mostly short term as I go from day to day. Working full time leaves very little time for long term planning
That’s tough. How many hours per day do you work?
08.30 to 18.00 with a roughly an hour commute each way
Most of my time is on short term goals but usually those are part of long term efforts. Plus I want to have something to feel good about at the end of each day and that is why I break things down to smaller goals.
This is the best! Short-term goals as part of a long-term plan π
Hello Bogdan, A belated welcome back to P. O. : ) As a parent, a lot of what I do is with an eye to the long-term, like raising our child bilingual, teaching life skills, and nutrition. As a writer, blogging is short-term, but related to my long-term goal of publishing books. Thanks for your quality, thought provoking questions as ever. -Rebecca
Hi Rebecca! Thank you very much for your kind words! I’m so glad to see that your short-term goals are related to the long-term ones. That’s how we get sh*t done! π
The only goal I have is living life while following my heart… π
βAny piece of knowledge I acquire today has a value at this moment exactly proportioned to my skill to deal with it. Tomorrow, when I know more, I will recall that piece of knowledge and use it better. β Mark van Doren
Living life and following your heart can be classified both as short-term and long-term goals. Awesome combination!
I think just to be more happy and not worry too much. I also want to try to eat more healthy and get more sleep as I suffer from insomnia. So more time devoted to self-care π
What’s causing that insomnia?
I worry a lot about the future, about other things and I suffer from on and off anxiety and depression. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and I can’t go back to bed and it is the worst thing ever…
All of it is spent towards long-term goals. For reason being I do not have any short-term goals at the moment, they were all achieved awhile back, now itβs just the hard stuff left to accomplish
Nice! How hard is it for you to focus on long-term goals?
Great question!! Both…but I struggle with it.
How come you struggle with it?
Itβs about 50-50 for me. Iβm a stay at home mom, raising two toddlers. Most days, I feel like Iβm try to keep them alive from moment to moment, with a long term goal of having them grow into amazing, happy, mindful young men.
With this long-term goal in mind, I’m sure you’ll achieve it!!! π
Long-term. I procrastinate too much with short-term goals.
Hmm… and what are your short-term goals?
Great question.
I have a number of overarching long term life goals which I should spend more time on… I actually spend most of the time on the short term goals of getting through each day raising my son to be happy and healthy while keeping my wife happy!
It seems that those short-term goals are impacting the long-term ones too π
