Great question, I’d like to humbly suggest I have experience in a number of things. If prefer to not use ‘expert’ as this can close you to new learning or perspectives!
True! Which one of those experiences value the most to you?
Personally I don’t think anyone can be an expert in anything. As times change, so too does our experiences and studies. Things that were once true yesterday could be totally different today.
That is true! I hope people keep up with the new findings (if possible).
I’m an expert at hearing names, but not retaining them…
I hear ya. Haha!
Hahahaha it’s so hard to remember names…🤔
Oh yeah! That’s one of my specialties too!
I’m a jack of all trades, expert at none. That can be a expertise, right? Why put your eggs in one basket?
I guess someone can be an expert at trying things 🙂
Great question…I don’t consider myself an expert in anything. There is always room for improvement no matter what your knowledge is. 😊
Yes, there is! About what topic would you like to know more?
Many subjects. For example I would say history of the world, but even though if I love to read when is about history I prefer when someone is talking to me about it. It makes me understand it better I guess. Also I don’t think that only one book can teach me enough on this subject, is also people that lived it.
I think it’s ok to consider yourself an expert and still know that there’s room for improvement or further learning and also recognise that some skills diminish with age or lack of practice or whatever.
An expert is just someone with a lot of skill or knowledge in a particular thing.
My expertise is anagrams. It’s maybe not the most useful skill in the world and there are many things I’d prefer to be expert at, but it has won me many games of scrabble.
How did you get to be an expert in anagrams?
I’m not sure I have a how, we used to do anagram games in primary school when we got near the holidays(like ‘how many words can you make from the letters of Father Christmas?’ Or whatever the nearly holiday theme was) and I’d always be able to fill the page. I’m just easily able to see letter permutations and identify which make valid words.
I am not expert of anything. I know that I don’t know. There is always the opportunity to learn in any way and if person is learning it is better than he or she considering themselves an expert.
When I was younger I thought I was an expert at a great number of things. Age and wisdom taught me I wasn’t. But it also taught me to be proud of how far I came.
Awesome! As long as you are better than before at something, it’s a clear sign you evolved!
Good question. I find myself knowing a bit about everything, but not an expert of anything.
If you could choose one thing to be an expert at, what would you choose?
If I could choose one thing? It would probably be writing. I love doing it; I feel that I’m not good at it. But that doesn’t stop me from doing it. I more than likely won’t be an author, but I’m still going to write in some form or another.
Maybe you will. Who knows where this path leads. When I started this blog, I had the same feelings, but I still managed to write a book so technically I’m an author. You can do that too.
That’s awesome! I guess nobody ever knows. I would definitely like to give it a try sometime.
I am an expert at me. Except, I keep evolving and changing which makes the point moot. 🙃
I was just about to write that!
This is awesome! If you’re an expert at you, you can become an expert at anything!
I love all of these responses- because everyone is showing their wisdom and admitting that they have no expertise or greatly underestimating their abilities. Glad to know there are a large number of people like this out there.
But to answer the question- I’m an expert at forgetting what I’m supposed to know!
In which circumstances you forget what you are supposed to know? Are those things important to you?
Not at all! That’s why I forget them. Hahaha
I’m not a complete expert at anything. Jane of several trades and always seeking more. I have things I can coach and teach others..if that counts?
Well, if you have things you’re good at, then it probably counts 🙂
Nothing. I have an art degree specializing in stained glass and a BA in journalism with a minor in southeast Asian religion, but I don’t think I’m an expert in anything. I would never consider myself an expert. There are people out there who know far more than I ever will.
When can someone consider say that he/she is an expert at something?
Maybe I’m being too humble, but I don’t think it’s possible. There will always be someone who knows more or something about your subject will change and you’ll have something new to learn about it.
I am a total expert on the interconnectedness of all things ❤
I hope that’s a good thing 😀
Myself and I’m getting close to expert listener
That is great! I’m also trying to be better at listening and sometimes it’s harder than it should, especially when there are some emotions involved.
I wouldn’t say I am expert in anything. I’m still learning things. But I’d like to say I’m good at comforting and cheer people up, whenever they have experienced some predicament. But then again, I think no one can ever be too skillful in anything
Very interesting! Do you have the same skill when you try to comfort and cheer yourself up?
That’s the strange thing. I don’t really think what I usually say or do to my friends is that special when they’re feeling down, but they find it lifting their spirits up. I can’t say the same thing to myself though
When I’m at rock bottom, I usually confide to someone, or let it slide for the time being by going out, take a deep breath and think things through. I don’t feel like I am that good in motivating myself. Quite a hypocrite, no?
I wouldn’t say a hypocrite. This is pretty normal…
Alriggt, seriously? In no field at all.

I guess it depends whom you’re asking 😛
Word. Like MS Word.
