When you don’t know what you are facing, the mystery adds to the fear (fear of the unexpected), but once you know it, it’s just the matter of conquering it

  4. Probably pretty obvious from the content on my blog, but the one that I felt most connected with is: “We cannot stop the birds flying over our heads, but we can stop them to nest there.” – Chinese Proverb

Proverbs are beautiful because they are often very simple ways of telling profound truths: Feelings are temporary; feel them, then let them pass. They only possess you if you let them.
It’s a frequent concept in DBT, which has many roots in zen philosophy. I feel this quote was more trying to liken the birds to thoughts, but although thoughts lead to feelings (CBT), it is the feelings from those thoughts we often react to, whether in our behavior or otherwise.

Thank you for sharing these quotes! I’m a big fan of quotes and love seeing the quotes that reach others.

    1. Yes, and it makes sense if you think about it. When we say “no” to someone, we’re actually manifesting our desire (in theory).

  5. Yeah me too because I don’t know about all those hidden talents that I may have.
I think, no one truly knows themselves because we all have a lot of potential inside us and we have no idea about it until we get out of our comfort zone and try new things.
It feels like I’m a deep ocean which has a lot of hidden treasures kept inside it.
I guess, life is basically a journey of finding ourselves.
