Movie Thoughts – Passengers (2016)

Movie Thoughts   This movie is about some people traveling through space to start a new civilization on a new Earth (you can read more about it here). The most interesting thing I find about this movie is the psychological pressure that Jim feels because of the loneliness (he woke up too early and now he thinks that he’ll live the rest of his life alone).

Can you imagine how he felt? I think that after the initial shock, he was ok. He had great view, he had a pool he had great room, lots of drinks, an android friend and all the tech you can imagine. That was enough, but only for a while. He felt the need of a human being with whom he could share his feelings. The android was great for sharing ideas, but not feelings. I guess we don’t realize how much we need other people until we are all alone.

I’m not going to tell more about it because I don’t want to be a spoiler in case you haven’t seen the movie, but I ask you this: what would you do if you were him? Would you feel the same things?

  1. It’s a really good movie and I enjoyed it a lot. I think what Jim did with aurora was wrong but when you suffer from loneliness for such a long time then you start craving human presence so badly that you end up doing things you shouldn’t.

    1. Yes… loneliness can do strange things to a mind, especially if it’s used to a high level of human interaction. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! 😀
