In 300 words, here are my recent favorite witticisms from my children.
#5: Where do we keep the long-handled things?
Last night, my four-year-old was looking for a hockey stick. I told him it was where we keep the brooms. When I saw him a few minutes later, I followed up. “Did you find it?“
“Yes,” he replied. “I found it in the broom room.
Doesn’t that have a nice ring to it?

#4: Get the verb alignment right
Speaking of brooms, I recently saw him heading outside with one. I asked where he was going. “I’m brooming with Nana.”
Right! You mop with a mop so why not broom with a broom?
#3: Join the team
A couple of years ago, I was introducing my then seven-year-old daughter to baseball. The Seattle Mariners were in the playoffs so it was a good opportunity to practice our fair weather fandom.
After looking at the tv for a few minutes, she asked, “Are we the ones shooting or swinging?“

#2: Give it a shot
When he had to go in for his four-year-old wellness check, my son was due for four vaccines. The last one had a big needle and it left an impression.
The next time my mom saw him, she asked how he was. “Well, I went to the doctor and she shot me.” he replied.
#1: Silence is golden, or at least more see through
More than a year ago, I was with my kids in my bedroom on a Saturday morning as a storm rolled in. My son, who was three at the time walked to the window. Meanwhile, my seven-year-old daughter, kept talking to me.
Until her brother turned to her and said, “Sshhh, I’m trying to see.“

Kids are cute 🥰!
Aren’t they? 🙂 Thanks, Ganga!
😂 The kids phrasing makes sense! The English language is such a much it’s a wonder any of us learn to speak it 😁
Oh, you are so right Todd. It is a wonder that any of us learn to speak it! 🙂
..such a mess….
🙂 🙂 🙂
#2 tickles me…so funny…right up there with the “broom room”. I hadn’t thought about it, but geez, we have one of those, too! 🥰
Aren’t you lucky you have a broom room? And you didn’t even know it! 🙂
Brooms deserve some room too! haha You know I have designed a product specially for them! why not check?
Right on! 🤪🥰🤪
Um, the comments make total sense to me. Smart kids. My favorite: “Well, I went to the doctor and she shot me.” Mr. D is so right. I feel that every time I get a shot or they take blood. That’s my new phrase for now on: I’ve been shot. They got me. So, so adorable Wynne. And wise too.
Ah, it’s a wise grown up that can understand kids, Brian!! I’m not surprised you speak their language! 🙂 🙂 🙂
I like # 3, I think I could ask the same question…
Yes! Baseball is such a funny sport!! 🙂
These are all great!🤪
Thanks, Erin!
Oh from the mouths of babes! As a former curler, I love the idea of “brooming”!
Ooooh, curling. Of course! Love that you gave credence to that adaptation!
Brooms are a part of our living. Who has not used them?
Children have a way of helping us see the world through different eyes. Particularly when a child learns to speak at a very young age.
I wish I had jotted down the early observations of my grandchildren
Ah you’ve hit it on the head about seeing the world with different eyes. Yes! Thank you, Jasper!
