How to Manage Your Time Better

Time - the least appreciated resource - Reblog

Would you like to get more things done on a daily basis? Do you feel like losing too much time with… nothing? And nevertheless, you still are afraid of a tight schedule?

Regardless the general impression, a tight schedule brings more freedom than anything does. And it allows us to get more things done. I’ve heard many people that a tight schedule is similar to being in prison. I would like to argue that because you are the one creating the schedule based on your needs and desires.

Here is my step-by-step recommendation regarding how to create a great schedule:

  1. Make a list with all the things you’d like to achieve (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly and so on), including your relaxing time;
  2. Approximate the time required for each of those things to complete and if it’s a repetitive daily “task”, try approximating the daily time required for that;
  3. Rank the list based on the importance;
  4. Set a deadline for each of the things from that list;
  5. Based on the importance, deadline and the time required, split that time and put something in your schedule each day for each of those tasks (even if it’s 10 minutes per day… at the end of the week, they add up).

I know this works because it helped me write my book in 6 months while I had a full job, I read 4 books per month, I kept this blog going and I also had some time to spend with my wife. There is freedom in a tight schedule. You just need to find the right tight schedule for you.
