Are we nothing but thoughts?

What is Confirmation Bias
Drawing by Adrian Serghie

I believe we’re one stupid question away from unlocking our full potential. Even if today we need money, houses, relations, cars, jewelries, social status, vacations, anything and everything our society values, everything can be achieved through thought. I don’t know what that question is and that’s why I keep asking. Maybe one day I’ll find the right answer that opens that door.

“We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world.” – Buddha

Yes, our thought process is what makes the difference. Our beliefs and the world we created inside our heads is what we’re living day in and day out. There is nothing out there if there isn’t up here. Once we see something with our mental eyes, we start seeing that outside as well.

The thoughts to which we give power is what defines us. You know I’ve said this countless times, but only because it’s true to me, and I believe it’s true to you as well. If you don’t believe there is kindness in the world, will you be able to see it? Probably not, because you’ll be too busy to see the evil. This the reason why Galileo Galilei has been condemned by the Catholic Church for suspicion of heresy. No one could imagine the Earth is not the center of the universe. No one could see evidence for that because no one was looking for it. The outside truth meant nothing. All that mattered was the inside one.

Almost everything in this world has been discovered because someone somewhere asked a question. I strongly believe that the better we know ourselves, the happier we can be. We usually get upset because we’re letting someone else decide who are we and most of the time, we don’t know. I suggest we should change that because if we know who we are, we won’t let someone else decide that.

How can we know ourselves better? Well, by asking some questions and by observing what answers come up. If we know what our pleasures and our fears are, we can do more to be happy and we can try harder to overcome our fears.

All the answers are within ourselves… we just need to ask and listen. Just don’t expect it to be easy. If it would, everybody would’ve been happy.
