What would you do for a living if money wasn’t an object?
I’ve been pondering this question quite a bit lately. I’m curious to see your response.
We’ve all heard the saying, “Love your job and you’ll never work a day in your life.” If money wasn’t an object, would you keep your same job? If not, what would you be doing instead?
Find a favourite cafe by the water and write a book.
I would love to do the same 🙂
I would be a dancer or writer… or maybe an artist… or maybe I would do all of those If I could.
I would be a writer and artist as well. Maybe a dancer if I had the coordination lol
I would be a music teacher for high school.
A very worthy vocation….
I would like to be a teacher of English as foreign language.
Languages is one of my passion! Learning my 4th now…
I would do photography & have a cut flower shop ❤️
I used to be a professional photographer for work, I found it very fulfilling to be in my creative element every day. Also, a flower shop seems to be the epitome of a romantic lifestyle 🙂
HA! I think I just wanna make money to fuel my obsession 😅😅😅
Lol don’t we all!
As for photography, I’ve done it for a very long time but need to update my equipment and took an extended break. I love it though! I’m good at it, I’ve shot for several small magazines. My Instagram is @southernWildRoots if you’re curious ❤️🥰
I work at a college doing what I love and get to teach martial arts in the evenings. I don’t think I’d change a thing.
Ahh I was hoping someone would say this 🙂 happy for you connecting the bridge between what you’d like to do in the ideal life, and what you’re actually doing!
I’d be self-published writer, it would allow me to spend time working on whatever I wanted without the pressure of needing to finish by a particular deadline.
I have been retired since 2011, but I did find my teaching career very fulfilling. Nothing is perfect in any job or business. Curriculum can be very restrictive, paperwork may be overwhelming, schools may be underfunded…but the students keep life interesting. I always enjoyed learning along with them. I am also enjoying writing and blogging in my retirement.
Good topic, EL. I enjoyed this post. <3 Have a good week!
I’ve always said that if I won the lottery I’d keep working. I’m a technical writer and it really suits me. I’m good at it, enjoy it and the folks I work with appreciate me.
Easy peasy for a writer, which I’ve been all my life: I’d still be a writer. One can make a living as a writer, but very seldom does someone with a brain go into it to make money.
Didn’t mean to be Anonymous!
May be a painter living off g rid in a tiny home with views of mountains and streams..lovely question…got me thinking there a bit
This is a question I have been asking myself recently as well, so I am here majorly to read comments. For me though, I enjoy writing, drawing, painting and travelling. Also, I understand that people say do something you love as a job. But sometimes the pressure of making money can take the joy out of a hobby leaving with an empty soul. Not all hobbies deserve to be monetized.
Agree
Sowing and making clothes! I would love to go to fashion design school, or even just go to town on my sowing machine (one of those things I always say I want to do, but then days and days go by and I just never do…)
I’ve dreamt about designing clothes, too 🙂 Seems to have quite an elegant and luxurious aesthetic to that lifestyle. You’ll find inspiration when the time is right 🙂 <3E
Thanks for your wise words 🙏 I look forward to that time
I would wanna be an author, to write my life stories into books.
‘we write to live the good parts of life twice’ love that quote and seems like you would too 🙂
I’d still be finishing up my PhD, heading to the postdoc I have lined up and trying to get a tenure-track professor job down the road. But I would be doing it with significantly less stress because I would have a solo place with no BS roommates or landlord and wouldn’t have to budget so tightly. Also probably less questioning of my choice of not going into industry where I’d start at double what I’d start at as a postdoc.
I would travel the world. Offer help to those who need it along the way. I would write and write and write.
Sounds similar to my aspirations 🙂
An archaeologist or a forensic scientist.
i dig that 😉
I would like to write books to be published without limitation on what I write, and make music to be heard without letting myself stop because something might not be the right thing. I would also like to set up an organisation which helps and potentially provides funds, for people to find ways of committing to the things they love! i.e. for me, writing stories and making music.
